The idea of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is to follow a circular route of around 39 km/24 miles over these three peaks in twelve hours or less. The start of the 3 Peaks Challenge (and finish) are situated in the picturesque village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, which is located on the B6479, around 6 miles north of Settle and the A65. The village has its own station on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.
Horton-in-Ribblesdale has two pubs which offer accommodation before and after the 3 Peaks Challenge. The village also has a bunkhouse, a visitor information centre, a cafe and a campsite. Car parking is available at the start.
It’s worth noting that this area gets very busy during summer months. 3 Peaks Challenge participants should consider arranging accommodation in Horton to allow for some celebratory drinks and recovery before heading home. For more information see our Yorkshire 3 Peaks Accommodation page.
