You will be required to register at the start, which will be located in the Village Sports Pavilion, Horton in Ribblesdale at 0600 hours. Look out for our banners – there may be other events starting from the same area!

Once you have registered you will be introduced to your Mountain Leader and given a safety brief and kit check. If you have entered as an individual/small group you will also meet the rest of your team here. Once everyone is ready you will set off around 0700 hrs.

You will be guided throughout the event. You will follow limestone paths (although some sections are boggy) through a series of checkpoints, staffed by the event team who will be equipped with VHF radios and safety equipment. In addition, further Mountain Leaders may be on the route itself at times. All staff will be in contact with each other via radio.

You should arrive at the start with all your kit, full water bottles and a packed lunch. Each checkpoint will provide a water resupply and hot/cold drinks. Should any participants wish to retire from the event during the walk vehicles will be available at these locations to return them to the start.

At the finish, food will be available to purchase in the Crown Hotel and the bar will be open!

This is rated as a medium challenge, which means that participants will need to have a good basic level of fitness and stamina, (this is nearly the same distance as a marathon!) You will be walking on some very boggy and uneven ground and should have some basic walking experience plus be well prepared for a rapid change in weather conditions.
